THEY TALK ABOUT US – THE OCEAN ROBOTICS VOYAGER IN THE NEWS
French newspaper Le Marin has published a feature on how our new Advanced Naval Architecture Division has designed a vessel dedicated to supporting underwater drones, at the request of Mines Paris School of Engineering for the newly created Collège des Sciences Navales.
This joint project brings forward a number of groundbreaking innovations:
– Small, low-cost underwater drones designed to operate at depths of up to 1,000 m, within 1–2 m³, and costing less than €100,000 fully equipped.
– America’s Cup technology fed into commercial vessel as our architects applied high-performance engineering to create a vessel with an entirely new aerodynamic form, minimizing energy needs, especially when holding position to deploy drones.
– And a new pragmatic approach to sustainable propulsion : an 18 m × 6.5 m monohull, that runs on bio-gasoil or e-fuel, also fitted with solar panels and batteries for 24h of silent operations.
As Sébastien Travadel explains: “This is a vessel capable of carrying an entire new sector forward and of making a new generation of engineers dream.”
These points will be detailed in the weeks ahead.
