MEDITERRANEAN RECORDS – A FIRST REFERENCE TIME SET OF 2HOURS 50 MINUTES AVERAGING 10 KTS!

Mariska’s first reference time on the segment Sanremo – Villefranche was already a week ago and what a week end.
Wonderful winds on Saturday, making for a record time of 2 hours 50 minutes. The following day, the wind turned for us with less breeze, but the conditions overall were perfect with the opportunity to set a solid and hard-to-beat first reference time on day one (average speed of 10 kts), and to enjoy time on board the next day. Wind, sun, Tuiga, the F1 Grand Prix, a stunning boat, and also masterful crew work.
The first images below speak for themselves. I will keep updating the content with any photos or videos as I receive them. As an anecdote it was discovered on my return that our first drone was intercepted by a superyacht’s defense system which had it land on board and that people had to retrieve from security. One example of many lessons we have learnt about this unique coast, and also showing why holding a pilot event was a great idea!
Alongside Mariska’s inaugural event, this weekend has also contributed to the launch of of our shipyard which brings together craftsmanship, cutting-edge technology, and a forward-thinking spirit rooted in Mediterranean culture and I want to thank you all for making this possible.
Another step will be taken starting next week, with contemporary artist Emmanuel Régent, a native of Villefranche-sur-Mer, and the exhibition named The Kutta Theorem. It’s a unique opportunity to discover our designs, from my original scow dinghy to the America’s Cup, alongside Emmanuel Régent’s art pieces at Espace à Vendre, one of Nice’s leading contemporary art galleries, located on Rue Lépante. Opening event on the 6th at 6PM, you are welcome to join us. Exhibition will run all summer long.
This exhibition brings together two worlds that aren’t so far apart: contemporary art and naval architecture with references such as Gustave Caillebotte and Jean-Baptiste Charcot: inspiring figures that were simultaneously artists, naval architects, scientists, explorers, and athletes.
To everyone who contributed to the event one way or another (if you hesitate you are part of it!), I’d like to send a small physical gift in appreciation of your involvement in the next weeks. Please send a physical mailing address to info@thomastison.com with the number of people involved.
To a lot more of this!
Thomas
