IT’S HAPPENING NOW
Just before the start of the 38th edition of the America’s Cup we are proud to reveal the first solo dinghy that includes electronic foil control onboard for the greater public. A new benchmark for speed, racing and design with a faster learning curve and the speed of T foils.
The Airborn continues to push the development of what a foiling dinghy is: with its stable dual stage hull shape, efficient deck sweeper sailplan and electric foil control, it allows everyone with a sailing background to jump on board and foil.
The high tech exterior design, and the construction with today’s finest materials adds to the pleasure for serious racing and occasional use. One aim was to minimize carbon footprint and the hybrid Eglass and Flax construction results in a construction which generates only 60% of CO2 emissions of a carbon fibre equivalent construction.
Keeping the boats simple has always been a recipe for success, and this is what the team of designers and engineers behind the project have aimed to do.

‘With its design, the Airborn honours racing tradition and opens a new era’
THE BEST TYPE OF FOILS
The Airborn features the best type of foils: T-foils that remain underwater at all times, away from perturbations of the waves, for the finest sensations.
A wand mounted at the bow automatically controls the angle of the flap.
Engineered for maximum span and early take off, these foils excel in efficiency. Foiling starts in winds as low as 8 kts and can accommodate crew weights from 60 to 90 kilos.

JUMP ON BOARD
The stable two stage hull shape provides stability during take offs while minimising drag when foiling.
The comfortable integral hiking wings make for a quick to learn hiking position and direct connection between the sailor and the sailplan.
Appealing for adults and younger sailors, the Airborn is a platform which allows everyone with a sailing background to jump on board and foil, fast.

READY IN NO TIME, ANYTIME
The Airborn frees itself from the Moth Class restrictions: no rudder gantry but a longer hull, no hiking wings and a mainsail on a luff track remove unecessary complexity.
Keep your foiler rigged on your favourite spot, rig it in minutes, launch it easily.
In addition, the new SmartCatch system allows the main foil and rudder to be raised and lowered with simple rope systems to facilitate manoeuvres going out and back.

SERIOUS SPEED
The Airborn is about maximising the feeling of speed by foiling close to the water, and reaching speeds up to 25 kts.
The deck sweeper mainsail combined with the hull make for an efficient sailplan with a low center of effort.
All advances in sail trimming technology are onboard with a 1:32 vang, and 1:16 cunningham giving you the options to trim the mainsail for best performance when foiling.

‘By foiling close to the water, the Airborn offers a different path to foiling where technology takes second stage and where sail trimming skills, tactics and pleasure is the focus.’

CONSTRUCTION
KEY REMARKS
Titanium carbon fibre and a hybrid bio-composite construction: it is in the selection of the finest materials that the best boats can be engineered and built.
With a reduction of 40% of CO2 emissions compared to a full carbon fibre construction, the Airborn is among the projects today that ingeniously combines performance and significantly reduces carbon footprint, to a level that already meets the Paris Agreement target for 2030.
The hybrid bio-composite construction has replaced carbon fibre entirely in the hull construction with an all up weight of 48 kilos and minimum added weight by a detailed understanding of the loads and the production process.
EXTERIOR DESIGN
The sharply sculpted lines and smooth negative radiuses create a high-tech shape that puts the Airborn unmistakably in the new generation of ‘superfoilers‘.
